I spent 20 years in automotive engineering, working to the finest tolerances imaginable. Precision was my world — every detail mattered, every millimetre measured.
But even in that environment, I was always in awe of beautifully crafted things — from classic motorcycles to well-designed buildings. Despite all the engineering experience I’d gained in those unforgiving workshops, part of me longed to create something different. Something not driven only by performance or deadlines, but by care, touch, and time - pieces that carried a sense of soul.
I’d often talk about building a treehouse for my boys. The problem was that we didn’t have any trees big enough to hold one. Then, almost as if by design, a storm blew down a huge Acacia tree - leaving the perfect spot to build.
When I started, I didn’t reach for building materials. Instead, I built the frame, doors, windows, and balustrades using traditional furniture joinery. It felt right. That project changed everything. The smell of wood, the feel of the grain, the quiet satisfaction of crafting something lasting - I was hooked.
Five years later, that spark became Sense Woodcraft.
Every piece I create carries the same attention to detail I learned in engineering, combined with the soul and warmth of handcrafted wood. I use only the finest materials and tools because I believe furniture should last - not just in form, but in meaning.
Why Sense? Because furniture isn’t just functional. We experience it. The way it looks, the way it feels to the touch, the way it completes a space - it all speaks to our senses.
Sense Woodcraft is my way of bringing that feeling to life - one piece at a time.
